PHOENIX, Ariz. --- The George Fox University Bruins have won two games in a row and have a winning record this far into the season with their decisive 45-27 defeat of Arizona Christian University this evening. Both teams are in their second season of existance, but the Firestorm couldn't compete with the Bruin offense, led by quarterback Grant Schroeder and running back John Shaffer.

Recap:
The 45 points is the most the Bruins have scored in just their second year as a program. Two weekends ago, the Bruins put up what was the most points scored against an opponent in the 39-35 victory over Redlands. The Firestorm were the first to get on the board after running back the opening kick-off back for a touchdown. The Bruins responded moments later, though, when Grant Schroeder found the end zone for a 4-yard run to tie the game up. The Bruins ended the first quarter with another touchdown when Schroeder connected with John Shaffer on a 13-yard touchdown pass. The Bruins ended the first half with three more touchdowns, leading the Firestorm, 35-14. The Bruins ran away with it in the second half as they continued to find the end zone.

Top Performers:
The Bruins recorded 256 yards on the ground and 234 in the air. Shaffer ran for 167 yards on the night and caught five passes for 65 yards. He also recorded a total of three touchdowns. Trevor Daniels also caught five passes for 34 yards, while Brad Lander brought in three passes for 62 yards.

What It Means:
With the win, the Bruins improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Firestorm fall to 0-3.

The Bruins continue their efforts on the road when they head up to Spokane, Washington to face Whitworth University in their NWC conference opener on Saturday, October 3 at 1:00 p.m. Click here to watch the game.
