PORTLAND, Ore. --- Kayla Anderson had quite the day at the plate on Saturday, leading the Bruins to a doubleheader sweep of Lewis & Clark. In the first game, Anderson knocked in two of the Bruins's runs in their 3-2 victory. Then, in the second, Anderson's homer sparked the Bruins to a 9-5 win.

Recap:

Game One
Saturday's opener was low-scoring, and Abbie Bergerson and Madison Sorensen combined well. Bergerson started and worked the first five-plus innings; the Bruins gave her a lead in the third, when Courtney Howard ripped a single to center that scored Annie Veatch.

The Pioneers immediately tied the game on Paige Salavea's RBI single, but Anderson retook the lead for the Bruins. In the top of the fourth, batting with two on, Anderson drove a double to deep center, knocking in two runs and rebuilding a 3-1 lead for the Bruins.

Bergerson defended that lead well, marching through the Pioneer lineup until the sixth, when Emily Drevdahl doubled in a run to shrink the lead to 3-2. From there, Sorensen took over and blanked the Pioneers and preserve the Bruins's 3-2 victory.

Game Two
The nightcap was more open offensively. The Bruins scored two right off the bat, as Amanda Woods clanged a single in the first to bring in two runs. Then, in the second, Anderson struck again: her double scored Rebecca Pridmore and made the score 3-0.

But, even with Sorensen pitching, the Pioneers tied the game in the third, stringing together an error and two hits to draw even at 3-3.

But Alyssa Harris relieved Sorensen and blunted the Pioneers well. Then, in the bottom of the third, the Bruins retook the lead, 5-3, on Pridmore's single that scored two with some help from slipshod Pioneers defense.

They stretched that lead in the fourth. Anderson blasted a solo homer, and Julia Apodaca's long double brought in Woods. Then, Isabella Cristelli's single plated Kat Hylton for an 8-3 lead.

The Pioneers got two back in the bottom of the fourth, but from there Harris was nigh untouchable. Apodaca added an insurance run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly, and the Bruins took the 9-5 win.

Top Performers:

Game One
Anderson was 1-4 with a double and two important RBIs. Annie Veatch and Kimi Ito both added two hits; Ito scored once. Howard was 1-3 with the Bruins's other RBI. Bergerson's win puts her at 11-2 overall; Sorensen claimed a deserved save.

Game Two
Anderson was 2-5 with a homer and two RBIs. Woods went 2-4 with two runs knocked in. Apodaca notched two RBIs, and Pridmore ended up 2-3 with an RBI and a run. Harris's win improves her record to 2-5.

What It Means:
The Bruins are 26-12 overall and 16-10 in conference, where they sit in third.

The Bruins conclude their season with another doubleheader tomorrow at Lewis & Clark.
