TACOMA, Wash. --- Looking for their fourth straight win in Northwest Conference play, the George Fox women's volleyball team hit the road to take on Puget Sound, defeating the Loggers in three straight sets (25-21, 25-22, 25-23).
Recap
Ashtyn Butler got the Bruins off to a strong start with two early kills, giving the Bruins a quick 5-1 lead. The Loggers responded with a big run of their own, tying the set 15-15. Puget Sound took a momentary lead after storming back, but Paige O'Rear snatched momentum back for the Bruins with back to back kills to give her team a 18-17 lead.
The Bruins never looked back after taking a late lead and Laney Search's ace capped off the first set victory, 25-21.
The Bruins came out on fire to begin the second set, racing out to a 10-2 lead. Delaney Cruz and Danyle Dupray helped orchestrate the early run, but again the Loggers made it a point to defend home court. Trailing 16-8, Puget Sound rallied to tie the set 19-19 before Alyssa Burch broke the tie to give the Bruins the advantage. Dupray helped finish what she started, recording the final kill of the second set victory, 25-22.
In the third set it was the Loggers who started strong, jumping out to a 12-7 lead. Butler and Dupray kept the Bruins within striking distance as the Bruins staged a big comeback.
Trailing 19-13, the Bruins ripped off a 7-1 run to tie the set 20-20 behind big kills from Burch and Cruz. With the straight-set victory within reach Dupray came up big down the stretch once again, finishing off the third set victory 25-23.
Top Performers
Dupray's monster performance led the way for the Bruins as the junior recorded 16 kills and seven digs. Cruz added nine kills while Madison Ross racked up 22 assists and Sophia Lawrence tallied a team-high 18 digs.
What It Means
The Bruins improve to 6-5 in the NWC after the big road victory. The Bruins are now fifth in the NWC and on a four game winning streak.

The Bruins return home to battle the Linfield Wildcats Saturday, Oct. 21, with the match set for 7p.m.
