NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox softball team swept the Boxers of Pacific Sunday, as the Bruins won the Northwest Conference series against the Boxers with an 8-1 win in game one and 5-0 win in game two.

Recap:
Game One:
The Bruins put the Boxers away early in the first game with a 7-0 lead after three.

George Fox scored its first run in the bottom of the first after Annie Veatch singled up the middle to bring home Kimi Ito, who got on base from a single to right center. The Bruins managed to jump on the Boxers in the first inning with three hits, but only came away with a run.

The Bruins capitalized in the third inning, as the home team put up six runs to take their largest lead of the series.

Ito was able to reach first on a throwing error, and Veatch kept up her strong showing with a double to left field – scoring Ito. Aaliyah Kautz hit a single, and Tawny Becker reached first on a throwing error to score Brooke Yasuda, who pinch ran for Veatch. Mallory Barber reached on a fielder's choice scoring Kautz, and the Bruins were suddenly up 4-0. Rebecca Pridmore was able to hit a two out single through the right side – scoring both Barber and Tristan Cozo. The Bruins final run of the inning came after Ito singled up the middle to bring home Pridmore.

The Boxers were able to hang one up on the scoreboard in the sixth inning after a triple to right field put them in scoring position.

Veatch homered in her final at bat to bring the score to 8-1 and give the Bruins a victory.

Game Two:
The Bruins were just as hungry in game two, taking another early lead after three innings of play.

Action started in the bottom of the second for the Bruins after the first three at-bats were able to get on base from walks. Pridmore striped a ball up the middle, bringing home Madelynn Vallejo and Rachel LaRont for the only two runs of the inning.

The Bruins were able to match their two run second inning with a two run third inning on a Tawny Becker homerun. Becker had two outs on the scoreboard before she went yard for the two RBI homer.

Veatch was able to secure her fourth RBI of the day on a single up the middle in the fourth inning.

The Bruins closed out the game with a 5-0 lead.

Top Performers:
Game One:
Veatch went a perfect 3-3 at the plate with three RBIs. Kautz and Ito both went 2-4 on the day. Madison Sorensen earned her ninth win of the season, pitching all seven innings with five strikeouts.

Game Two:
Veatch went 3-4 at the plate with one RBI. Becker and Pridmore went a perfect 2-2 with two RBIs. Abbie Bergerson was spectacular in the circle, going all seven innings with three strikeouts. She is now 6-5 on the season.

What It Means:
The Bruins are now 16-12 on the season and 12-10 in the NWC. Despite having the second most wins in conference play, the Bruins sit in fifth in the standings.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins final four game NWC series will take place on the road against Willamette Saturday, April 8, at 12p.m.
