WALLA WALLA --- The George Fox women's volleyball team finished its final Washington road trip of 2018 on Saturday, Oct. 20, with a match at Whitman. The Bruins fought hard but still fell in straight sets.
Recap
The Bruins jumped out to an early 5-1 lead in set one, but Whitman climbed back into the set to tie it at 10-10. It stayed close until a 19-19 tie broke in the direction of the Whitman squad, ending in a 25-20 win for home team.
Whitman kept the momentum in the early stages of set two as they built a 15-10 lead. A 9-3 run gave the Bruins a late lead, but Whitman had an answer to the Bruins' efforts and finished the second set with a 25-23 win.
Another back-and-forth set began with an 11-8 lead for Whitman, but the Bruins kept pace until the final moments of the match. A 21-20 lead for Whitman was enough of an edge for the home team to pull out another 25-23 win to complete the sweep.
Top Performers
Danyle Dupray led her team with 11 kills on offense and added 12 digs for her team. Sophia Lawrence piled up 17 digs, and Laney Search tallied 16 assists. Aryah Marlow totaled five blocks in the loss.
What It Means
The Bruins fall to 2-10 in Northwest Conference play and are 8-12 overall with four matches remaining in the 2018 season.
