FOREST GROVE --- The No. 20-ranked George Fox softball team hit seven home runs and swept the Pacific University Boxers Saturday, taking game one, 10-1, and game two, 7-2.

Game One:

The Bruins set their dominance early in game one, as senior Madison Sorensen received the start for the visiting squad. It was quiet the first two innings, but the Bruins were able to get on the board in the top of the third after Allison Meyer hit a home run to left field to bring home Alyssa Gonzalez and Savannah Vargas.

After three innings, the Bruins lead the Boxers, 3-1. The Bruins were able to get two more across the plate in the top of the fourth. Roni Braun kept the home run train going, as she belted one over the left field fence for the two-run RBI.

Sorensen was locked in for the remainder of the game, as the senior only allowed one run to score in the game. George Fox kept up its run support, as the Bruins exploded in the top of the sixth with five runs. Gonzalez got in on the home run party, scoring three runs to give the Bruins an 8-1 lead. Annie Veatch hit a single and advanced on an error, which led to Rebecca Pridmore scoring the Bruins' ninth run. Aaliyah Kautz then reached on a fielder's choice to bring in the final run for the Bruins.

The Bruins ended the game early with a 10-1 victory.

Game Two:

The second game got off to a little slower start offensively, as both teams weren't able to get the bats working. The Bruins were able to open up the scoring in the fourth after Roni Bruan and Savannah Vargas hit home runs. Braun laced one over centerfield to bring in the two-run home run, while Vargas hit a solo shot to left center to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead.

The Boxers answered in the fifth with two runs of their own, but the Bruins responded with another Braun home run in the top of the sixth.

The Bruins sealed the game in the top of the seventh, as Aaliyah Kautz joined the party with a home run to left center to bring home Madelynn Vallejo. Alyssa Gonzalez was able to single up the middle three batters later to bring home Kimi Ito for the final run of the game.

Abbie Bergerson pitched 4.1 innings for the Bruins to earn the win, while Sorensen grabbed the save.

Top Performers:

Game One:

Meyer, Braun and Gonzalez all homered in game one. Both Gonzalez and Meyer recorded three RBIs. Sorensen recorded four strikeouts in the game and improves to 10-1 on the season.

Game Two:

Braun went 3-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Bergerson is now 4-4 on the season, while Sorensen recorded her second save.

What It Means:

The Bruins improve to 15-5 on the season and 6-2 in the Northwest Conference.

The Bruins complete the series Sunday, March 18 with the first game at 12 pm.
