NEWBERG --- The No. 14-ranked and No. 1-seed George Fox softball team hosted the No. 4-seed Pacific (Ore.) for the first game of the Northwest Conference tournament on Friday, dropping a tough one, 10-2 – six innings.
Recap:
The Boxers struck hard in the top of the second, hitting back-to-back homers to jump out to an early lead.
The Bruins responded in the bottom of the second, scratching across a pair of runs to tie the game. Aaliyah Kautz singled to the pitcher, then Alex Parker doubled to right center to place runners on second and third. Allison Meyer singled and then advanced to second on the throw, allowing Kautz and Parker to reach home for the only two RBIs of the game.
Pacific had it going in this one. The Boxers hit their third home run of the day in the top of the fourth on their way to a four-run inning, taking a 6-2 lead.
Four more runs from Pacific was too much for the Bruins to overcome as they dropped a tough one, 10-2.

Meyer batted in a pair of runners to pace the Bruins in this one.
What It Means:
The Bruins drop to 33-8 on the season and will have their backs against the wall the remainder of the NWC Tournament.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins face No. 3-seed Whitworth Saturday, April 21 at 11 am in an elimination game. The winner will play the loser of the Linfield/Pacific matchup at 4 pm.
