PORTLAND --- The Bruins took to the road on Saturday, Sept. 29, to face Lewis & Clark for the first time in 2018. Three Bruins eclipsed double digits in kills for George Fox, but a five-set affair went the way of Lewis & Clark on Saturday.
Recap
The Bruins fell behind in the match after a hard-fought 25-23 loss in set one. After trading sideouts and narrowly losing in set one, the Bruins played their best volleyball of the night in set two.
A .444 attack rate as a team boosted the Bruins past the Pios in set two, finishing it off with a 25-16 victory to tie the match. The Bruins carried that momentum into the third set and pulled out another win for a 2-1 lead in the match after a 25-20 victory.
The Pios rallied back in the fourth set, however, as the Bruins struggled to string together sideouts and successful runs on the attack. A 25-19 win for Lewis & Clark forced the fifth and final set, and the Bruins had their shot to take the match. A late push gave the Bruins a chance to steal the match on the road, but the Pios hung on to win the night with a 15-13 victory in set five.
