Box Score TACOMA, Wash. --- The George Fox men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Puget Sound in a Northwest Conference road contest Saturday afternoon. A goal in each half was enough for the Loggers in the match as the Bruins started their weekend trip to Tacoma with a loss.
How it Happened
The Loggers struck first about 30 minutes into the match on a strike from Cale Spencer that found the net from nearly midfield off of a pass from Ryan Smith. The Bruins tried to respond quickly off of the ensuing kickoff when a pass found Isaac Nakayama whose shot was saved by the Loggers' keeper.
Puget Sound added to their lead in the second half shortly after halftime. This time it was Smith from outside the penalty area finding the back of the net on an assist by Spencer.
Robert Rodarte had a pair of shots in the second half for George Fox, with his first being deflected off the leg of a Puget Sound defender and then a second just clearing above the crossbar about five minutes later.
The Loggers largely out-possessed the Bruins in the match which kept George Fox from finding the back of the net in the contest.
Top Performers
Rodarte led the way with three shots for the Bruins. Connor Kong and Isaac Nakayama also each had one shot on goal but were unable to find the back of the net. Alex Muir had four saves for the Bruins against 13 Puget Sound shots.
Coach's Thoughts
"The guys fought hard today against a difficult Puget Sound team and should be proud of that effort," Paul Karver said afterward. "We have to find ways to be more clinical in front of goal with the number of quality chances we created today."
What it Means
