NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's basketball team ran into a brick wall on Saturday afternoon at Miller Gymnasium, falling to the undefeated Lewis-Clark State Warriors, 45-73.
How It Happened
The Warriors put together an astounding defensive performance in the first quarter, as the Bruins shot 0-16 from the field and committed six turnovers. Ella Roberts' two free throws were the only points the Bruins could muster, and they trailed 21-2 at the end of the first.
Alyssa Wells finally took the lid off of the basket in the second quarter, hitting three triples. Fox would shoot 42% from the field in the quarter and outscore the Warriors 19-17 in the period. Wells and Jaela Eggers combined for 13 points in the quarter as the Bruins tried to inch closer.
Lewis-Clark State put any Fox comeback notion to rest by shooting 57% from behind the arc and recording five blocks in a dominant third quarter. Alexa Borter led the way for the Bruins with five points in the quarter, but Fox trailed by 29 points at the end of the period.
Head Coach Mike Coppolino played his reserves for the majority of the fourth quarter as the remainder of the game dwindled down. Cassidy Posey scored six points in the final frame, hitting a three and converting an and-one. The final horn sounded in a resounding victory for the visiting Warriors, 73-45.
Top Performances
Wells and Posey led the Bruins with nine points apiece; their four three-pointers were the only triples Fox had all night. Alexa Borter contributed seven points and a team-high six rebounds off of the bench.Â

The Bruin women fall to 3-6 on the season with the loss.
