TACOMA, Wash. --- The George Fox women's basketball team fell into an early hole and were never able to climb out, ultimately losing to the Puget Sound Loggers, 72-80.
How It Happened
The Loggers pounced on the Bruins early, jumping out to an 11-5 lead after a Katie Minnehan jumper. Fox would only shoot 20% from three as Puget Sound dominated the frame with a 11-0 run to take a 24-14 lead at the end of the first.
The Bruin women held their own in the second, but weren't able to close the gap closer than six in the period. The game developed into a defensive slugfest in the quarter, with both teams scoring 13 and shooting below 30%. Ella Roberts kept the Bruins in contention with two layups and the Bruins trailed by ten at half.
The third quarter remained a close contest. Fox's incessant inside attack allowed the Bruins to get into the bonus early on. The Bruins shot 16 free throws compared to the Loggers four in the quarter; Fox would cash in 13 of those 16 attempts. Despite those attempts, the Bruin women were once again unable to break past the six point cushion.
Rachel Parks willed her team to within five with four minutes remaining, but the Bruins were unable to complete a comeback. Parks scored ten in the quarter, including two threes that kept the Bruins in range. In the end, a 23 point performance from Kennedy Brown allowed the Loggers to walk away with a 80-72 win over Fox.

Parks shot 60% from the field and surpassed her career high with 21 points, a team-high. Emily Stephens neared a double-double with a 13 point and eight rebound performance, while Cassidy Posey chipped in six points. Alyssa Wells led the Bruins with three assists on the night.
