NEWBERG, Ore. --- George Fox softball is proud to welcome Emily Seidel to its coaching staff in 2021 as an assistant softball coach to Jessica Hollen. Seidel will also assist the Bruins' athletic department with game management duties for volleyball, soccer, and football.
"We're excited to have Emily join our staff," coach Hollen said. "She is a person who really values relationships and development of athletes. We think she'll be a great fit for our program."
Prior to Fox, Seidel spent three years at Hamilton College as an assistant coach and helped guide the Continentals to a 34-17 overall record in her three seasons with the program. Hamilton broke a dozen program records in 2019 and finished at 28-10 overall with their first-ever postseason appearance, earning Coach of the Year honors from the NESCAC coaches for the Continentals' head coach and staff. As the Continentals' pitching coach, Seidel contributed to that honor as she helped cut the staff ERA by more than 2.00 overall by slashing the three returners' ERAs from 5.39 to 2.13, 7.88 to 4.28, and 5.06 to 4.39, respectively.
Prior to her stop at Hamilton, Seidel coached at Los Angeles Mission College and at Burbank High School from 2015 to 2019.
"I chose George Fox because want to be part of a really competitive program that Jess and John have built over the last 14 years," Seidel said. "There is so much that I can learn from them and I want to contribute to the team's success. I have spent my life in Christian educational environments and I wanted to be part of that kind of family environment again, so George Fox is a great fit."
In addition to her six years of coaching experience Seidel has 13 years of playing experience, including three years of NCAA Division I competition. She graduated from Abilene Christian in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in Convergence Journalism. Seidel was named Western State Conference Pitcher of the Year, CCCAA California Pitcher of the Year, and an NFCA All-American as a pitcher during her playing career.
Seidel is currently pursuing her master's degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine in Irvine, Calif. Seidel is an NFCA-certified pitching coach and is currently pursuing her certification as a hitting instructor.
Seidel was born and raised in Burbank, California, and now resides in Newberg, Ore.
