FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- The George Fox Volleyball team continued to carry its early-season momentum on Friday night, sweeping the Pacific Boxers 3-0 in Oregon Trail Classic competition.
How it Happened
George Fox took the win in straight sets, cruising by set scores of 25-14, 25-19, 25-16.
The Bruins were locked in from the opening serve, playing under control, passing well, and finding clean kills early and often. Fox took the first game by going on an 11- 4 run to take a 1-0 lead. The Bruins capitalized on a litany of Boxer mistakes, earning 12 points in Pacific errors in the first set.
Both sides played cleaner in the second set, but the Bruins pulled ahead with the 2-0 lead.
Freshman Kaitlyn Nemecek had four kills, including three of the final four points, as the Bruins put Pacific away 25-16 in the final set, sealing the sweep.
Top Performers
Bailey LeBreton and Nemecek each put up game-highs with nine kills and four blocks each. Nemecek's performance was a season-best for the freshman middle blocker.

The Bruins are 5-1 on the young season and 4-1 on the road—a propitious start to the year. The matchup with Boxers also gives the Bruins a preview of a Northwest Conference foe before conference play begins.

The Bruins are headed for the heat of battle next week, kicking into NWC action with a road trip to face "The Whits" in Whitworth and Whitman next weekend. They'll face the Pirates in Spokane, Wash. on Friday, and then the Blues in Walla Walla, Wash. on Saturday.
