WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Coming into the weekend on a two-game win streak, the George Fox volleyball team struggled to find their groove on offense and in a sweep against Whitman on Friday night.
How It Happened
The Bruin's hit .167 in the first set, with 11 kills. However, six attack errors hurt Fox as the Blues jumped out to a 10-3 lead, eventually winning, 25-16.Â
The Bruin's played a close second set, outhitting Whitman .250 to .225, and were leading up to the 23rd point before a service ace and kill from the Blues cooled off the Bruins. Whitman finished the set strong, holding off Fox in a 25-23 set win.
Fox had seven kills in the third, but it wouldn't be enough to push the game to four sets, as the Blues closed it out 25-15, handing the Bruins a tough loss.
Top Performances
Bailey LeBreton had 12 kills in the game, and
Addison Robertson had six.
Piper Harrop led the Bruins with 14 digs, while
Kennedy Kibby had 17 assists.
What It Means
George Fox is now 11-9 (8-5 NWC), while Whitman improved to 8-13 (6-7 NWC).
What Happens Next
The Bruins will look to rebound as they play one of the top teams in the conference in the Whitworth Pirates on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 6:00 p.m.
