FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- George Fox lost their shooting touch in the second half against a tough East Texas Baptist University team, losing a game that was played in Forest Grove, as part of a tournament hosted by Pacific University, 95-75.
How It Happened
In the first, the Bruins were able to use their full-court press to bait the Tigers into a handful of turnovers. The Bruins had 16 points off of turnovers in the first half and led the Tigers for much of the half. A run from the Tigers left the Bruins with a five-point deficit at halftime, 41-36. Fox held the Tigers to only one first-half three-pointer and stopped them from scoring on the fast break.
Coming into the second half, East Texas Baptist increased their three-point shot volume and hit them with great success, immediately going on a run to lead the Bruins by 12 just four minutes into the half. The Bruins brought the score down as low as seven at one point, riding energy from the Bruin bench, including six from
Chris Nickelberry. However, Fox was unable to capitalize on the momentum, missing several threes at crucial moments.
The Tigers used their height and length to close out the half, increasing their lead to 20 points in a game that was much harder fought than the score would suggest.

Coach's Thoughts
"It's a good learning experience for us," Bruin head coach
Maco Hamilton said, "It's the reason we schedule such a tough non-conference schedule — we can learn about ourselves in an expedited way, and tonight was no different. We'll pull it apart and try to be better tomorrow."
What It Means
Friday's game was the Bruins' first in the Ken Schumann Classic tournament held at Pacific University. Fox is now 0-3 to start the year, while the Tigers are now 2-1.
What Comes Next
The Bruins were originally scheduled to play Evergreen State University tomorrow to close out the tournament, but due to tournament changes, they will now play Northwest Indian College on Saturday, November 19 at 4 pm in Forest Grove.
