NEWBERG , Ore. -- A strong second half performance was not enough to carry the George Fox men's basketball team to victory, the Bruins ultimately falling to the Chapman Panthers 76-91.
How It Happened
The Bruins played their first of two games on their California road trip against the Chapman Panthers who were selected to finish third in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The first half momentum was all in favor of the Panthers who outscored the Bruins 52-31 on 15-31 from the field, including eight triples.
The second half was the tale of the Bruin offense and bench points that helped George Fox outscore Chapman 45-39. The half started with both teams trading blows that made the first minutes action-packed and high scoring. The Bruins shot 16-32 from the field, while Chapman shot 13-30, lending the Bruins an advantage through the air. Along with this, the Bruins collected five offensive rebounds to Chapman's four. Though the impressive second half team effort closed the gap, the Bruins were never able to take the lead.

George Fox had three starters in double figures.
Davon Walker led the team with 17 points, shooting 8-12 from the field.
Momo Stokes was right behind with 15 points and forward
Adam Damian checked in for 11.
Chris Nickelberry was a spark off the bench and contributed nine points to the offensive effort. Damian was also presence under the basket, recording four offensive rebounds and three defensive rebounds, while Walker and Stokes contributed with four defensive rebounds and three defensive rebounds, respectively.
