FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- The George Fox women's basketball team lost its rescheduled matchup against Pacific (Ore.), 53-37, giving the Boxers both games of the 2021-22 series.
How It Happened
Neither team shot the ball well overall or with any consistency throughout the night, allowing Fox to take a 14-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Boxers were just 2-13 from the field in the first quarter, allowing Fox to take point on tempo and pacing.
The script flipped in the second quarter and would favor the Boxers the rest of the way - after making seven shots in the first quarter alone, the Bruins were held to nine makes the rest of the way and missed all of their three-point attempts for the night. After giving up the lead in the second quarter Fox only trailed 22-19 at the half, but the gap widened steadily throughout the second half until the final horn.
Top Performances
Jenna Lacey led the team in minutes on the floor and shot a team-high 4-6 (66.7%) from the field for eight points. Cassidy Posey led in scoring with nine, and Emily Stephens led with six rebounds.
What It Means
Fox dips below .500 overall at 11-12 and is now only one game ahead of Willamette and Lewis & Clark at 7-7 and fourth in the standings. A win in either matchup still mathematically guarantees a playoff berth for Fox.
