CLAREMONT, Calif. --- Fresh off a season-opening win against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, George Fox baseball finished its series with a pair of losses in a Saturday doubleheader at the Stags' home field.
How It Happened
In game one, the Stags grabbed a 6-0 lead after an explosive third frame and single runs in the fourth and fifth. The Bruins ultimately fell behind 11-0 before scratching four runs across late in a 4-14 final.
Game two of the doubleheader featured an early 1-0 lead for Fox after Jared Miller turned a walk and a stolen base into a run after an RBI single from Mason Gronewald. The Stags took the lead in the bottom of the first with five runs and held that lead the rest of the way - Fox plated a run in the fifth and added two in the seventh, but it wasn't enough to close the gap in a 4-9 final.
Top Performances
As a team the Bruins swiped four of five bags on the day. Gronewald led the team with a .500 performance and an RBI on the day. On the hill, Ryan Silver worked two scoreless innings and Ben Wills tallied five strikeouts before exiting in game one.
What It Means
Fox moves to 1-2 on the year after its first full three-game series of 2022.
