Box Score 2 NEWBERG, Ore. --- Fox earned two wins, including a sweep against NWC foe Willamette, to finish its last week in Oregon before a spring break trip to South Carolina.
Match One
Fox swept its match against Willamette in Salem, Ore., after setting the tone in doubles play. Olivia Morris and Danielle Brown won, 8-2, on court one and Cassey Hitch paired with Kalli Wiker to win 8-2 on court two. Ellie Mangan and Emily McDonald swept their third-court matchup, 8-0.
Mangan and Stephanie Barreto both won, 6-0, 6-0, and Abigail Bond won her no. 3 matchup 6-1, 6-0. Arianna Rader won her match on court five, 6-0, 6-2 ,and Hitch was able to notch a quick 6-2, 6-1 win on the fourth court. Playing up at court two, Brenna VanderYacht won a marathon match in a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-4) final.
Match Two
Fox hosted the Concordia-Texas Tornados and grabbed a 7-2 team win after taking two of the doubles matches and five of the six singles matchups. Brown and Morris paired again to win, 8-6, in the no. 1 doubles match, while Wiker and Hitch also won, 8-6, in the no. 2 doubles battle.
Brown battled hard in a 3-6, 2-6 defeat on court one and the rest of the singles went to Fox to cap the night. Mangan won the no. 2 matchup 6-4, 6-2, Wiker won 6-0, 6-3 in the no. 3 matchup, Morris swept, 6-0, 6-0 on court four, and VanderYacht won 6-0, 6-2 in the no. 6 singles matchup. McDonald won 6-2, 7-5 to finish the match off.
What It Means
Fox is now 7-4, including a 2-2 conference record, after winning both halves of its doubleheader.
