Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. --- The George Fox women's tennis program wrapped up it's spring break trip with a 5-4 win over Union (N.Y.) on Wednesday, March 23.
How It Happened
The Bruins won two of the three doubles matchups and competed well on all three courts. Danielle Brown and Olivia Morris fought their way to a 6-8 loss on court one, and the Bruins' no. 2 & 3 tandems each worked their way quickly through their opponents. Cassey Hitch and Kalli Wiker won, 8-2, on court two, and Abigail Bond and Ellie Mangan won 8-1 on court three to grab the early lead.
Union forced a trio of superset tiebreaks in a tough series of singles matchups. Brown won, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-8) on court one. Wiker also won, 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8), on court three, and Emily McDonald was competitive to the end in a 1-6, 6-1, 0-1 (7-10) loss on court five.
Morris won, 6-2, 6-3, on court four to give the Bruins a 4-4 tie, and Brown's win after almost two hours of groundstrokes gave Fox the 5-4 victory.
What It Means
The Bruins notched three more victories over the Spring Break trip and saw some great competition during their week in South Carolina as they improve to 10-6 overall.
