NEWBERG, Ore. — Hot off a win against Whitworth the game before, the George Fox Women's Volleyball team kept the momentum rolling with a clean sweep of Linfield.
How It Happened
Though the Bruins got off to a slow start, that didn't hold them down for long. After hanging within a couple of points of Linfield through the first part of the set, the Bruins got on a roll and scored five unanswered to take the lead and grab the momentum. This momentum carried them through the middle half of the set, after which they pushed ahead for another streak of five that ultimately proved too much for Linfield to best, granting George Fox a 25-21 victory in the first set.
The second set was also a tale of waiting to pounce for the Bruins. The Bruins remained even with the Wildcats for most of the set, then went on a run of seven unanswered to grab a big lead late in the set. Though Linfield tried to battle back, the momentum was gone, and the scoreboard was not in their favor, leading to the loss of a second straight set by a score of 25-15.
Looking for a sweep, the Bruins came out swinging in the final set, quickly building a cushion that they looked to use to keep the Wildcats down. However, Linfield had other ideas, rattling off six unanswered to get right back in the set. The Bruins would have none of it and quickly responded with points of their own to take a decisive lead and win the set by a score of 25-20
