NEWBERG, Ore. -- The Bruins were unable to bounce back from a loss to Whitworth on Friday night as they dropped a game to the Whitman Blues 88-102.
How It Happened
The Bruins once took a quick lead over the Blues, hitting several treys and jumping out to an eight point advantage after nine minutes had elapsed in the first half, 25-17. The Blues countered quickly, though, outscoring the Bruins 22-6 to take a double-digit lead into the break 54-37,and leaving the Bruins with some work to do in the second half.
The Bruins struck first to narrow the gap to begin the second half, cutting the lead to eight thanks to several key shots from
Momo Stokes and
Jett Briceno as Fox looked to mount a comeback and get back in the game. However, the Blues responded with another flurry of points to build a lead to take into the rest of the half, keeping the Bruins at bay throughout the half. Though GFU attempted another run late, the Blues held them off, securing a victory by a score of 88-102.
