TACOMA, Wash. – In their first competition in over a month, the George Fox men's swim team lost to the Puget Sound Loggers, 70-129, while the women's team fell, 78-121.
How It Happened
The Bruins had teams place second in both the men's and women's 200 yard medley relay, with the men's team finishing with 1:40 finals time, and the women's swimming a 2:01.
Jesse Urback and
Riley Parker took second and third place respectively in the women's 200 yard freestyle.
Levi Gibson fought his way into second place in the 50 yard freestyle swim, racing a time of 22.22, less than a second off the leader.
Mia Smith got second place in the 50 yard freestyle for the women's side, also finishing less than a second off of first place with a time of 26.80.
In the men's 400 yard IM,
Wyatt Greene pulled in another podium finish for the Bruins with second place effort.
A pair of Bruins grabbed another second place finish in the 100 yard butterfly, with
Cameron Alexander finishing second on the men's side, and
Britney Muralt for women's.
Laurel Knox and
Jesse Urback took the top two spots in the 500 yard freestyle, with Knox racing a 5:26, and Urback racing a 5:34.
Levi Gibson and
Strom Nordeng finished first and second in the 100 yard breaststroke, with times of 1:01 and 1:04 respectively.
Riley Parker won the event on the women's side with a time of 1:11.
Coach's Thoughts
"This was a great January meet for us." said Bruin head coach
Natalie Turner, "Seeing some of our swimmers going 1-2 in some pretty competitive races was very fun. We are still seeing good improvement throughout the season. With only two meets left of the year, we are hoping to settle into some good racing and start looking forward to Conference."

The Bruins return to their home pool tomorrow, Jan. 20 against the Linfield Wildcats, with the first heats starting at 1 pm.
