FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Bruins finish season strong with multiple solid performances from some of their top swimmers, including a third and fourth place finish to conclude their season at the NWC Swim Championships.
How It Happened
Laurel Knox had an impressive day in the pool, taking third place in the women's 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 17.54.13, which was a Bruin team record, while teammates
Jesse Urback and
Kaylee Dicey finished fifth and sixth respectively, with times of 18:07.99 and 18:12.00. Knox was not the only one with a record setting swim in the 1650,
Blake Nilsen dropped over two minutes off his best time with a time of 17:42.50.
Riley Parker continued her successful weekend with a team record swim in the 200 breaststroke, 2:29.29, which was good for 11th place.
Owen Tonseth finished in 10th place for the men's 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.94.
Britney Muralt also finished 10th in the women's 100 yard freestyle with a time of 55:00.
Cameron Alexander had a strong showing, finishing fourth in the men's 200 yard butterfly with a time of 1:54.58, beating the team record set last year at the NWC Championships.
After a solid performance to finish the year, the women secured a seventh place finish with a total of 302 points, while the men were one off that mark, landing an eighth place finish with a total tally of 225.5 points.
