BEAVERTON, Ore. – The George Fox men's tennis team faced tough competition in the recent match, ultimately falling short against their opponents from Portland State.
How It Happened
In doubles
Vahag Pashayan and
Lars Schmassmann fought valiantly but were defeated by Jan Semerak and Andrea Brignacca with a score of 6-3.
Eli Mizerski and
Hunter Fujimori also put up a strong effort, but couldn't secure the win, losing, 5-4 to Hembo Mathiasen and Simon Kuszynski.
Jackson Whittaker and
Alle Banna faced a similar fate, losing 2-6 to Luka Jovanovic and Hubert Theriault.
The Fox players struggled to gain momentum against their skilled opponents in singles.
Eli Mizerski fell to Andrea Brignacca with a score of 6-1, 6-4, while
Vahag Pashayan lost to Luka Jovanovic 6-3, 6-4.

"Our opponents had a strong start in all matches," said
Mitchell Miyashiro, "We battled well, but unfortunately, we're unable to win some crucial points to make a comeback. We showed improvement from the last match and will continue to progress moving into the season."
What's Next
The Bruins will return to the court on Saturday when they travel to Portland to play against Northwest Conference opponent Lewis and Clark in their first conference match of the season. That match is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
