2/9/2024 8:35:00 PM

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The second day of the 2024 Northwest Conference Swim Championships saw more historic performances for the George Fox swim teams. After two days, the women's team sits in fifth place, while the men's team is in eighth.

Top Performances
The Bruins exploded off the blocks on day two, with Laurel Knox, Jesse Urback and Kaylee Dicey all qualifying for the women's 500 freestyle final. Laurel Knox flew through the prelims, securing a record breaking second place finish. Knox's blistering time of 5:12.19 beat Kaylee Dicey's previous record by six seconds.

However, freshman Jesse Urback was the star of the final and the top finisher for Fox after her time of 5:12.71, which was just milliseconds slower than Knox's prelim time. Her performance saw her take fourth, while Knox placed sixth and Dicey finished ninth.

George Fox also rewrote the record book in the sprint events, with Levi Gibson breaking the team record for the men's 50 freestyle prelim. The fifth year senior took home third in 21.01 to beat his own previous record time. Gibson finished in sixth during the finals with a mark of 21.17.

The 200 individual medleys were next. In the women's division, Riley Parker was the sole Bruin to qualify for the finals, securing fifth place for Fox in 2:11.28, a two second improvement on her prelim time. Parker's time would be a personal record and a team record. In the men's race, Wyatt Greene was the top performer, placing 16th in 2:01.37, a personal record for Greene. The Bruins set a team record in the men's 400 medley relay to finish the night, led by a personal record split from Aries Valenzuela
