SPOKANE, Wash. -- The George Fox men and women's swim team had their first "normal" meet of the season, traveling north to face a top-ranked Whitworth team and ending with a pair of hard-fought losses.
Top Performers
Following a pair of third-place finishes in the opening relays,
Micah Hugo had a time of 18:50.71 in the Men's 1650 Yard Freestyle, while
Abby Roche and
Belinda Stoye came in second and third for the Women's 1650 Yard Freestyle (Roche, 21:14.71), (Stoye, 23:21.17).
Then, in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle,
Parker Kiniry finished with a time of 2:04.06 in third place, while in the Women's 200 Yard Freestyle,
Gabrielle Patti came in first at 1:57.87, just two seconds shy of the program record.
In a lightning 26.20,
Donna Talmadge finished the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle in first place, while
Addie Gustin finished in third place with a time of 27.25.
In the Women's 400 IM,
Jesse Urback finished in 4:57.88 in third place, and then in the Women's 100 Yard Freestyle,
Riley Parker completed her race in third with a time of 56.76.
For the Women's 100 Yard Backstroke, Patti again showed out, sweeping the floor with a time of 1:00.02 in first place overall — again just two seconds shy of the program record. As for the men,
Strom Nordeng came in third with 1:04.42.
Finally, the Bruins came in third place for the Women's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay—
Laurel Knox starting off, as Kyah Webber,
Addie Gustin, and
Jesse Urback finished with a time of 1:50.41.
What Comes Next
The Bruins will compete on Saturday, November 15 against the Whitman Blues at 1:00 pm, traveling to Walla Walla, Wash. to continue the Whit weekend.
