Patti to Compete at 2026 NCAA Championships

Second Bruin Ever to Compete in NCAA Championships

3/2/2026 6:16:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Committee announced the swimming participants for the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, with Gabbie Patti qualifying for three individual events.

Patti is set to compete in the 100-yard backstroke (54.74), 50-yard freestyle (23.33), and 200-yard backstroke (2:01.83), becoming the first Bruin ever to compete in both the 100 and 200 backstroke at the NCAA Championships. En route to qualifying, the Washington native set six individual women's program records this season in the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.95), 1,000-yard freestyle (11:01.85), and 200-yard individual medley (2:06.07), in addition to her three qualifying events. The freshman also played a major role in setting women's program records in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:37.99), 200-yard medley relay (1:48.64), and 400-yard medley relay (3:58.84).

"This season has been a dream come true," said Patti. "I have made so many friends in my teammates and will forever be grateful for the support and memories from this season! I feel so blessed and thankful to be able to have this opportunity to represent George Fox and glorify God at Nationals."

Patti helped lead the women's program to six consecutive regular-season wins to close out the regular season, along with a first-place finish at the Bruin Invite. She finished first in every individual event she competed in this season, including all three events she swam at the NWC Championships.

The freshman became the first Bruin since Aspen Monkhouse to receive an invitation to an NCAA Championship. Monkhouse was selected to participate in 2020 before the championships were canceled due to COVID-19.

"Gabbie has had an outstanding freshman season and qualifying for the NCAA Division III National Championships in three events is a reflection of the work and consistency she has shown all year," said Bruin head coach Natalie Turner.

"She made an immediate impact on our program both competitively and through the way she approached training every day. A big part of her success came from the training environment she helped build alongside her teammates. They pushed and supported one another all season and that collective commitment helped raise the level of our entire team."

"Earning both Rookie of the Year and Swimmer of the Year as a freshman is an incredible accomplishment and we're very proud of her. This feels like just the beginning of what she's capable of accomplishing."

The championships will be held March 18–21 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. Franklin College, the Indiana Sports Corporation, and the IU Natatorium will serve as hosts. A total of 579 participants (526 swimmers and 53 divers) will compete.

Patti will be one of three Northwest Conference female swimmers competing at the championships. Whitworth is the only other NWC school competing this year, with Megan Bonikowsky (2:19.53) and Molly Konop (2:19.26) both participating in the 200-yard breaststroke.
