DALLAS -- The No. 2-ranked George Fox STUNT team wrapped up a successful 3-1 weekend at the DBU Tournament thanks to a dramatic victory over Missouri Valley.
How It Happened
The first game of the day was one of the closest in the two-year history of George Fox STUNT. The Bruins, facing Missouri Valley College, the fifth-ranked team in NAIA, jumped out to an initial lead, taking a 3-2 advantage. However, the Vikings finished the half strong, scoring the final three points in pyramids and tosses to take a 5-3 lead into the half.
Fox lost the first point of the third quarter, but quickly rebounded with a solid performance in jumps and tumbling — the Bruins scored three straight to end the third quarter tied 6-6.
One day after winning a thrilling 11-9 game against TAMUK, the Bruins one-upped themselves. Fox took two points in their first routine of the but the Vikings countered, winning three points (including one split point) to wrestle a 10-9 lead back. The two teams split another point in the next routine, each gaining two additional points, but Missouri Valley took a 12-11 lead to the final routine of the day.
Reba McLennan and
Beth Sanchez chose to go with routine one for their final play of the day, a move that paid off. In dramatic fashion, winning the point outright in partner stunts and jumps and tumbling. Up 13-12, the final point was split, giving Fox the dramatic 14-13 victory — tied for the most points in program history.
The Bruins played one additional game against the University of Texas, dropping their first matchup of the season against the No. 8 team in the STUNT Club rankings, 2-22. Fox picked up points on pyramid three and four to end their DBU Tournament.
Top Performers
Morgan Lewis and
Marlee Rae led the team with 12 points responsible for in the first game, while
Emma Reinke earned 11 points overall.

The Bruins jump out to a 3-1 start to the year thanks in part to two tight victories.
What Happens Next
Fox will be off until their next tournament, the Royal Rumble at Hope International, on March 7-8.
