VARIOUS LOCATIONS -- The George Fox track team had several athletes competed throughout the West — four field athletes compete at the Lewis & Clark Larry Byerly Invite in Portland, Ore., four runners at the Oregon Open in Eugene, Ore., and two distance runners in Azusa, Calif., as the Bruins competed in some of the final performances prior to the conference tournament.
Top Performers
The day started in Portland at Lewis & Clark, where four field athletes competed, In the Men's Hammer Throw,
Erik Potter made a mark of 116-09, setting the tone for the Bruins in 19th place. Then, freshman
Grace Clifford placed in 12th in the Women's Hammer Throw with a PR mark of 129-01.
McKenna Eppley had a mark of 95-09 in 31st place. Lastly,
Ben Nuss placed 12th in the Men's Javelin Throw with an incredible mark of 55-02—his season's best.
Meanwhile over in Eugene, four men's runners competed at the historic Hayward Field. In the Men's 800m,
Josiah Sohus placed 15th, with an incredible PR time of 1:55.95. Meanwhile, we had three Bruins placing in the Men's 3000m Steeple—
Gavin Grass achieved a PR time of 9:22.21, placing eighth overall. Sophomore Benjamin Moore followed close behind in tenth place, with a 9:28.45 PR time. In 11th place, freshman
Nate Hamilton also had a strong 9:31.02 PR time for the day.
Rounding out the day were two Bruin distance runners competeed in the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif. In the Men's 1500m Open B, senior
Ryan Scholtes with a lightning time of 3:50.27. He made it just within the top 40 in 39th place. Also a senior,
Aidan Arthur placed 40th in the Men's 1500m Open A, marking a solid time of 3:51.87.
What Comes Next
While two meets finished up, the rest of George Fox track team will go to Portland to attend the Lewis & Clark Larry Byerly Invite on Friday April 18, at 1:30 pm.
