LA CROSSE, Wisc. -- The George Fox track and field season came to an end on Saturday afternoon, with
Carson Tapia rounding out another successful season by competing in the 200m finals.
Top Performers
Tapia, who entered the 200m prelims as the 12th-seeded competitor on Thursday, impressed by earning his spot as the final of nine qualifiers for the final. Tapia, who had shattered a 20-year old program record in the NWC Championships in the event, clinched an All-American spot with his appearance in the 200m final.
In the race, the freshman placed ninth with a time of 21.40, finishing .09 behind eighth place. Kai Smith of Salisbury won the event with a time of 20.42. With his finish, Tapia became the third Bruin freshman (alongside
Janice Hellesto and
Makaylah Johnson) to earn an All-American honor in 2026; Tapia picked up a Second Team award with his ninth-place effort.
What Comes Next
The 200m final marked the end of the 2025-26 George Fox Athletics season. The men's track and field program was one of five programs (men's and women's cross country, women's golf, and women's lacrosse) to earn a Northwest Conference title as the Bruins finished second in the McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy race. The Bruins will look to capture the trophy — and surely earn more All-American honors on the way — in the 2026-27 academic year.
