Bruins Prep For NWC Championships at Larry Byerly Invite

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The George Fox track team continued their second day of the Lewis & Clark Larry Byerly Invite, sending various Bruin athletes to make history with several number one placements.

Top Performers
Ayahna Bahati set the bar high, placing first in the Women's 100m Hurdles with an incredible PR of 14.41—clocking in #2 all time. Then, Annalise Gonzales ran a lightning PR of 2:16.47 in the Women's 800m in sixth place—one second faster than her previous season's best and putting her on the all-time top 10 list as well.. 

Meanwhile, Kellin Ruiz placed seventh overall in the Men's 1500m with a PR of 3:56.12. In the Women's 1500m, freshman Marcella Leita clocked in a PR of 4:55.29, and Allie Wilber right on her toes in tenth with her season's best of 4:55.42. In the Men's 5000m, Andrew Ross ran a beautiful time of 14:48.55, securing a PR in fourth place. 

For the field events, Luke Nelson made an amazing mark of 15-11.75 in the Men's Pole Vault, placing number one for the meet and #3 all time. Keegan Gantala placed seventh with a clean mark of 14-00.00. Senior Grace Tully placed first in the Women's Pole Vault, marking 11-07.25, while Shelby Larson and Angela Hawkins tied for second place with a matching mark of 10-07.50. Sierra Cook placed tenth with a solid 8-08.00 mark.

What Comes Next
The track team will take a brief break for the week to compete at the Northwest Conference Championships in Portland, hosted at Lewis & Clark on Saturday April 26.
