PORTLAND, Ore. -- At the end of the first day of the NWC Conference Championships, the George Fox University men and women's track teams both lead the way in points, with the men scoring 81, and the women scoring 72. The Bruins had several athletes earn All-NWC honors on the day as well, adding on to the success of the day.
Top Performances
Sarah Pullen ran a personal best 37:53 to take second in the women's 10,000 meter run, earning All-NWC honors for the senior.
Ryan Meier came in third in the men's 100 meter dash prelims and will compete tomorrow in the final.
Karys Gates ran a personal best in the women's 400 meter prelims to qualify for the finals, running a 58.33 to take second place.
Blake Smith was the top finisher in the men's 110 meter hurdles in the prelims, with a time of 14.87, and will take the top spot going into the finals on Sunday. For the women,
Ayahna Bahati came in third in the women's 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.77, she qualified for the finals on Sunday as well.
Aidan Aurther finished first in the men's 800m prelims, running a 1:53.26 to qualify for the finals.
Ellie Rising also came in first place with a finish of 2:15.53 in the women's 800 meter.
Tom McMillian took third in the men's 400m hurdles prelim with a time of 56.28 to qualify for the finals.
Jenna Huntsman third in 400 meter hurdles as well, running a 1:05.66.
Gavin Grass and
Kellen Ruiz came in first and second in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase with times of 9:10 and 9:16, respectively, earning All-NWC honors. In the women's 3000 steeplechase,
Breanna Schmitt ran a 11:26 en route to a second place finish.
On the field side of things,
Luke Nelson vaulted 15-03.75 feet to finish first in the conference. The women's team continued their dominance, as
Grace Tully finished in first place with a mark of 12-00.75 feet, and Anna Wilson finished in second place with a mark of 11-07 feet. All three vaulters took home All-NWC honors.
Victoria Azar jumped 18-01.75 feet in the women's long jump, good enough for second place in the event and All-NWC honors.
Throwing events took place in Forest Grove, Ore., on the campus of Pacific University. Results from the events will officially be in on Sunday.

The NWC championships continue Sunday, April 27th, with events starting at 10 am both at Lewis & Clark in Portland, Ore.
