Bevy of Bruins Set New PRs in McMinnville

McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- The George Fox track and field team attended the Jenn Boyman Memorial Invite to compete in various events, picking up PRs left and right.

Top Performances
Cole Nichols had the fastest time in the Men's 100m with a time of 11.19 seconds, coming in 10th place overall with his best time of the season. In the Women's 100m, Jenna Huntsman placed sixth with an outstanding time of 12.87 seconds, while Victoria Azar followed close in 13.18 seconds.

Ayahna Bahati set the bar high in the Women's 100m hurdles when she won the heat in 14.83 seconds. Meanwhile, in the Men's 110m hurdles, Blake Smith also finished in first place with a clean PR of 14.65, moving him up to third all-time in GFU history.

Both Fox athletes for the Men and Women's 400m finished in seventh place—with Josiah Sohus at a time of 50.97 and freshman Karys Gates with a PR of 1:00.35.

Thomas McMillan accomplished a PR of 55.71 in the Men's 400m hurdles, finishing in third. For the Men's 800m, Simon King finished in fifth with a time of 1:57.89, and Ellie Rising in first place in 2:10.03—her season's best.

With a PR of 4:55.80, Marcella Leita finished in second place in the Women's 1500m, while senior Gavin Grass won the Men's 3000 Steeple in 9:23.14—his season's best, and Kellen Ruiz had a PR of 9:27.01 in second place.

Isaac Davenport made fourth place with a PR of 15:47.58 in the Men's 5000m, and sophomore Chloe Cook finished in second with 18:39.65. Then, in the Men and Women's 10000m, Makai Peak placed sixth in 34:23.35, and Hope Bridge placed first in 39:52.92.

For the field events, Hunter Gonzales set the tone for Men's Discuss with a mark of 138-10 in fourth place, while Addie Wegener finished in first place in the Women's Discuss with an outstanding PR of 129-07, seventh all-time. 

Daniel Morales had a mark of 139-02 in the Men's Hammer Throw, coming in seventh place, while Candice Mugo-Wainaina came in sixth in the Women's Hammer with 130-03.

In the Men's Javelin Throw, a PR of 181-04 was thrown by Joey Holloway, making him third place overall, and Ellie Corwin came in second place in the Women's Javelin with her season's best—a mark of 132-08.

Next, Blake Smith came in fifth place overall in the Men's Long Jump with a mark of 21-09.50, and Victoria Azar came in second in the Women's Long Jump, achieving a solid 18-03.25 mark — a mark that puts her 10th in the all-time program record books.

Sophomore Luke Nelson placed fourth in the Men's Pole Vault at 15-00.00, while Grace Tully placed second with 12-01.25 in the Women's Pole Vault. In the Men's Triple Jump, Drew Pierson made a mark of 44-08.75 in third place, and Victoria Azar came in fourth with 34-04.25—both PRs overall.

For the relay races, the Bruins came in first place in the Women's 4x100m—49.32, second place in the Women's 4x400m with a time of 4:06.35, third in the Men's 4x100m at 42.70, and finally, fourth place in the Men's 4x400m with 3:26.84 overall.

What Comes Next
The Bruins will compete in the Western Oregon Open next weekend in Monmouth on Friday, April 11th.
