HILLSBORO, Ore. -- The 2025 Northwest Conference teams have officially been announced, with five Bruins earning All-Conference honors.
The Bruins finished the 2025 season sitting in third place in the NWC, bouncing back after a fifth-place finish in 2024. Head coach
Nathan Ohta excelled in his first season, winning four games against top-20 opponents and finishing just two spots outside of an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.
Sharon Tomei was the star of the show in 2025, breaking 10 total school records at the plate. She hit a whopping .482 on the season with a nation-leading 22 home runs, and drove in a whopping 47 runs as well. This record-breaking season landed her a spot on the All-NWC first team - the lone Bruin to do so.
The All-NWC second team featured
Makayla Noone and
Sydney Sandifer. Noone was recognized for her play in the outfield and speed on the basepaths. She broke the career stolen base record after nabbing 19 bags this season, also leading the conference in triples with four. Her batting average of .350 was good for second on the team, and was a key component of the Bruins' offense this season.
Sandifer finished the season strong with five home runs in her last three series. The former All-American catcher earned an at-large spot on the NWC second team, throwing out nine batters on 19 stolen base attempts. The league respected her ability to throw runners out, as hardly anyone had the nerve to steal second with Sandifer behind the plate. On the offensive end, Sandifer batted .261 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs, finishing second in career home runs at Fox with 47.
Nicole Ledendecker and
Brooke Riggins round out the All-NWC honors, both landing a spot on the Honorable Mention team. Ledendecker is the lone GFU pitcher to make the list, finishing the season with a 4.07 ERA, seven complete games, three shutouts, and a team-high 67 strikeouts. The freshman had an 11-6 record and had a fantastic start to her Bruin career. Riggins batted .269 with five doubles and six home runs, also stealing a perfect 11-11 bases in 2025. The standout shortstop rebounded after missing last year due to an injury, earning a spot on the All-NWC team this year thanks to her offensive and defensive efficiency.
Even though the Bruins' season ended in the NWC tournament, the team has several pieces to build on for next year. They'll be back in action next spring for the start of the 2026 season.
