SEATTLE -- Three George Fox track and field athletes attended their first indoor event of the season, taking on University of Washington for two days of the UW Preview. After two men competed on Friday, it was
Emily Foote who stole the show, breaking a 35-year old record in the 3k on Saturday to start the year on a high note.
Top Performances
The Bruins opened the meet on Friday night by taking to the track for the Men's 3000m, with two athletes kicking off the indoor season. Leading Fox was
Caden Hildenbrand, who pushed through the finish line to complete the race in 74th place with a time of 8:48.43. His steady pace and persistence kept him competitive in a deep and challenging race, showcasing his ability to hold strong through the final laps.
Not far behind, Kellin Ruiz followed with a solid performance of his own, finishing in 87th place at 8:58.95. Together, Hildenbrand and Ruiz gave the Bruins a decent start to the two-day event, laying the groundwork to build on as the competition continued.
On day two of the competition,
Emily Foote delivered a stand-out performance in the Women's 3000m, finishing with a ground-breaking time of 9:55.46. Her run not only earned her a number four national ranking, but also re-set the George Fox record, marking a significant milestone for both Foote and the program. Foote took down Jill Beals' record of 10:02.64 set in 1991, the second record of Beal's she has broken in her time at Fox — alongside her 6k mark back in the cross country season.
