NEWBERG, Ore -- Various George Fox track and field athletes performed in the first Bruin Indoor meet of the season, with several athletes putting themselves on the program's all-time lists.
Top Performances
Freshman
Makaylah Johnson started the Bruins off strong, finishing in second place in the Women's 60m Hurdles with a time of 8.95 — a mark that is not only 20th in the nation, but good enough for second all-time.
Meanwhile,
Joshua Taylor set his own records in the event in Men's Shot Put, placing first with a mark of 48-00.00 ft. Taylor not only won the event but also set the program record with his mark; his throw dethroned Scott McBride's throw of 47-07.75, set in 2024.
Austin Imsland finished in third place behind Taylor with a throw ofÂ
44-08.75.
Then, Senior
Angela Hawkins kept the records coming, placing fourth of all-time in Women's Pole Vault with a mark of 11-05.75. The Bruins dominated the pole vault, with
Luke Nelson (14-01.25) and Zachary Miller (13-07.25) finishing second and third in the men's, while
Kylie Morais (10-11.75) finished in third behind Hawkins.
Finally,
Candice Mugo-Wainaina wrapped up the record setters with a throw of 37-01.25 in the Women's Shot Put, putting her ninth all-time.
Outside of the record-setters, the Bruins had several top-three finishers as well.
Carson Tapia placed second in the 60m with a time of 7.06, while
Caleb Smith was third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.85. Smith,
Micah Mumford, and
Dylan Brown helped the Bruins sweep the top three in the Men's High Jump, with Smith recording a mark ofÂ
6-03.25.
On the women's side,
Madison Wu placed third in the high jump with a mark of 4-10.25, with
Savannah Johnstone placing third in the long jump with a 16-03.25.Â

The Bruins will travel back to Seattle next weekend for the UW Husky Classic on Saturday, February 14
