FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- On the heels of the George Fox track and field team's trip to California, a handful of Bruins returned to Oregon to compete at the Pacific Open, with one staying back and taking part in the Westmont Classic.
Top Performers
In total, nine athletes made the 30-minute trip from Newberg to Forest Grove, including
Caleb Smith — who broke the school's longtime decathlon record while in California. Smith competed in the men's 110m hurdles, finishing in sixth place with a 15.73. 0.2 seconds ahead of him was teammate
Blake Smith, who came in fifth with a 15.71.
The highest-finishing Bruin on the day was
Jenna Huntsman, who placed in third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:06.87, the top D-III finisher at the event.
Lola Heide (sixth in the 400m hurdles with a 1:10.09),
Emmett Mihelich (sixth in the high jump with a 5-09.75), and
Savannah Johnstone (eighth in the 100m hurdles with a 15.70) were other top 10 finishers at the Open.
Meanwhile, one Bruin stayed back in California to compete at the Westmont Classic.
Luke Brewer attempted a go at the men's long jump, but failed to register a mark.
Up Next
The majority of the Bruin team will be back in action on April 4 as they compete at the Jenn Boyman Invite, hosted by Linfield. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am.
