BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- In the wake of an impressive weekend against the Linfield Wildcats, sophomore
Brennan Bates of the George Fox baseball team has been named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week.
Bates had an impressive series against a Linfield team that was receiving votes in the national polls, recording three home runs in just two games played. The sophomore hit two in a Saturday start before adding a solo shot in the Bruins' 6-3 Sunday win. In total, Bates went 5-for-8 at the plate with three home runs and four RBI, posting a 1.750 slugging percentage.
The sophomore is the second NWC player to earn the national honor in 2026, following Jaxson Kister of Linfield, who was named to the Team of the Week in week one. It's the first time that the Bruins have had a player on the team since Noah Meffert in 2024.
Bates and the baseball team will be off to Walla Walla, Wash., to face the Whitman Blues in their second conference series of the season, with the first pitch of game one scheduled for 11:00 pm on Saturday, March 7.
