Fox in Tie For Sixth After Day One of NWC Championship

NORTH PLAINS, Ore.. -- The George Fox men's golf team completed day one of their final tournament of the season, playing at Pumpkin Ridge GC for the NWC Championship; after day one, the Bruins sit in a tie for sixth with a 297.

Top Performances
The Bruins competed in a shotgun start for day one, with the Bruins tee off on holes four through seven. Truman Fletcher started with a birdie on his first hole of the morning, hole four, and proceeded to go on a tear; the senior rattled off four birdies in six holes from holes 10-15. Though Fletcher ended with a string of bogeys, he still was the low scorer on the day, and sits in 18th place with a 73 (+2).

Next up on the docket was Luke Powell, who shot a 74 (+3) to end day one in 22nd place. Powell had four birdies on the day, two on the front nine and two on the back.

Two Bruins were tied for 24th after day one: Eli Harrell and Blake Johnston. The two athletes each had one birdie on the day, Harrell notching his on hole 12 while Johnston earned his on the eighth. When all was said and done, the pair shot a 75 (+4) on the day. Ian Powers rounded out the five Bruins completed in North Plains, shooting an 82 (+11) to finish in 44th place.

After day one, the Bruins are tied with host Pacific for sixth place, each team shooting a 297 on the day. The Linfield Wildcats lead the way for the teams, shooting a 277 (-7) as a team; three Wildcats notched under-par rounds on the day, with Linfield's Brody Landaker leading the individual leaderboard with a 67 (-4).

What Happens Next
Fox will complete their season with the second round of the NWC Championship on Monday, April 20. Just like on day one, the Bruins will have a shotgun start at 9:00 am.
