Bruins Complete Season With Sixth Place in NWC Championship

NORTH PLAINS, Ore.. -- The George Fox men's golf team ended their 2025-26 campaign with the second round of the NWC Championship, staying firm in their position and placing sixth with a score of 598 (+30)

Top Performances
Luke Powell was the low scorer for both the day and the tournament, finishing his second round with a 73 (+2). Powell had a birdie on six and back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17 to finish his season with a 147 (+5), good for 16th place.

Next up was Truman Fletcher, who concluded his George Fox men's golf career with a 76 (+5). The senior had two birdies, one on hole six and one two holes late, to finish his Championship in 20th position with a 149 (+7).

Two strokes back was Eli Harrell, who had one birdie of his own on hole three and shot. The sophomore was one of three Bruins to shoot a 76 (+5) on the day — Fletcher and Ian Powers the others — and ended his first season as a Bruin in 24th with a score of 151 (+9).

Rounding out the Bruins were Powers and Blake Johnston. Powers was the final scoring Bruin, shooting his 76 (+5) to finish in 41st with a 158 (+16). Johnston, meanwhile, finished three spots higher in 38th, shooting a 80 (+9) to end his season with a 155 (+13).

Willamette, who started the day in second place, moved up to first and went on to win the NWC Championship with a score of 560 (-8), earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Brock Olson (Willamette) and Douglas Bailey (Linfield) tied for first with a 137 (-5) for the tourney, with Bailey finishing as medalist, winning the playoff with a birdie.

Coach's Thoughts
"The guys fought really hard every day," Bruin head coach Caleb Fernandex said, "They showed lots of pride competing and played very well at times. We have a really young team, with an tons to look forward to."

What Happens Next
The Bruins will be back in action in the fall of 2026, hoping to build off of their successes and improve their NWC positioning.
