Eugene, Ore. -- The George Fox Bruins finished the Oregon Twilight by placing third or better in seven events and accomplishing several new personal bests across three field events and one track event.
Top Performers
In the men's 1500-meter,
Isaac Montanes placed second for the Bruins with a personal best of 3:56.37, with fellow teammate
Andrew Dewar not far behind, clocking a time of 3:58.95 to finish third.
Janice Hellesto registered the only top-three finish for Fox among all women's events with a second-place finish in the women's long jump (18-02.5).
Carson Tapia carved out multiple top placements, finishing third in the men's 100-meter (10.76) and second in the men's 200-meter (21.53).
In the men's 110-meter hurdles,
Blake Smith recorded a new season best of 14.73.Â
Evan Roberts posted a distance of 169-05 in the hammer throw, which marked a personal best. She finished fourth and established a throw that ranks second all-time in program history for the women.
For the men's high jump,
Caleb Smith elevated to a mark of 6-04.75, making him the third-place finisher in the event.
Despite a sixth-place toss in the women's shot put,
Candice Mugo-Wainaina reached 42-10.75, garnering a personal best good enough for fifth all-time in the Bruin record books.
On the topic of bests,
Zeke Sikkema demonstrated his pole vaulting prowess with a mark of 15-03.50, moving into seventh all-time in Bruin program history.
Makaylah Johnson chimed in with a fourth-place finish in the women's 100-meter hurdles, racing a 14.35 that was good enough for fourth on the day.
What Comes Next
The Bruins will look to compete in the Portland Twilight, hosted by Lewis & Clark, on Saturday, May 9. Start times are to be determined.
