Bruins Compete in Final Road Meet of Season

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The George Fox track and field team competed in their final road meet of the regular season, traveling up to Portland for the Portland Twilight, with several Bruin runners setting solid marks. 

Top Performers
Caleb Smith was the top finisher of the day for GFU, placing second in the 110m hurdles with a 15.50. Smith finished just behind former GFU athlete Thomas McMillan in the race. Meanwhile, Makaylah Johnson also earned a podium finish with a third-place effort in the 100m hurdles, racing a time of 14.38.

Jackson Multanen, meanwhile, was the top-placing D-III runner in the men's 200m, finishing fifth with a time of 14.38. The freshman also placed seventh in thr 100m with a 11.48. Kellen Ruiz notched a fourth place finish in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing with a 9:21.49.

While those events had 20 or fewer people, the 800m and above had many a runner competing for the crown. Of the 61 people racing in the 800m, Isaac Montanes was the top-finishing Bruin with a time of 1:53.75, good for 13th. Hope Bridge was the high finisher on the women's time, clocking in at 2:17.07 for 17th.

Rounding out the top performers was Chloe Cook, who built off of her NWC Championship in the 5000m two weeks prior with a 17:28.41in the 5000m. Of the 33 runners, Cook placed 15th, beating out 11 Division I runners to finish as the top D-III competitor.

What Comes Next
Fox will finish out their regular season with.the GFU Last Chance Meet, where several athletes have a chance to qualify for NCAA Nationals. DAy one of the Last Chance is scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, at 11:00 am.
