Bruins Start Fall Season at Whitworth Invite

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The George Fox men's golf team concluded their first day of the Whitworth Fall Invitational in sixth place with a score 295 (+11); the Bruins' Eli Harrell also finished in second, 67 (-4). 

Top Performances
After a phenomenal day on the green, Eli Harrell truly paved the way for Fox and ended the with a second place finish and a total of 67 (-4). Harrell started off the day with two birdies and a 34 (-1), but it wasn't until the back nine where he really flourished. On hole 12, Harrell recorded an impressive eagle before shooting another birdie to complete the back nine.  

Next up for the Bruins was Ian MacArthur, who had two birdies throughout the day — one on the back nine and one on the front — to end with 75 (+4) and in a tie for 35th. Otto Klein followed not far behind in a tie for 39th with a score of 76 (+5); Klein had one birdie on the front nine, before recording two more on the back. 

Christian Chacon also shot three birdies for the day while ending with a 77 (+6) and in a tie for 46th. Rounding off the Bruins' top five was Blake Johnston, 82 (+11). Johnston concluded the first day with a birdie on each nine and in a tie for 55th. For individual play, Carson Colello and Chance Griffin ended in a tie for 57th; each recorded a total of 83 (+12) while Colello had a birdie on hole six. 

At the end of the first day of competition, Whitman took first place with a score of 276 (-8). Individually, Pacific Lutheran's Grant Raubenolt finished in first, 66 (-5). 

What Happens Next
The Bruins will stay in Spokane, Wash. for day two of the Whitworth Fall Invitational on Monday, September 14. Tee-off is scheduled for 7:00 am at the Indian Canyon Golf Course.
