HILLSBORO, Ore. -- The Northwest Conference office announced its Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of September 15th through September 21st, with Breanna Schmitt being named the women's cross country student-athlete of the week for the first time this season.

Breanna Schmitt was the top DIII finisher at the PLU Invite, finishing the women's 6K in a time of 21:10—a personal best. Her time was good enough to secure the No. 3 spot all-time in program history. Schmitt finished 37 seconds ahead of the nearest NWC runner in the field, her teammate Chloe Cook. Schmitt's time is the fastest in the Northwest Conference so far this fall.

Schmitt and the cross country team will head to Spokane, Wash. to compete in the Whitworth Invitational on Saturday, October 3rd, with the women starting at 10:00 a.m. and the men starting at 10:45 a.m.
