PUGET SOUND 4, GEORGE FOX 3: Three Late Scores Rally Loggers Past Bruins

Box Score

TACOMA, Wash. - Rallying from behind twice and scoring three times in the last 13 minutes of the game, the University of Puget Sound Loggers pulled out a wild 4-3 win over the George Fox University Bruins in a Northwest Conference men's soccer match Saturday afternoon here on Peyton Field at Baker Stadium.

George Fox got on the board 33 seconds into the game when Sean Daughtry took a pass from Connor Campbell and snuck one past Logger keeper Greg Saetrum for a 1-0  lead.  It was his first goal of the season.  Sean Rice evened things for UPS in the 13th minute with his initial score of the season following a pass from Zach Semago, but Daughtry, with an assist from Brian Story, gave the Bruins the lead again in the 17th minute with his second goal.  The score stayed at 2-1 through the halftime and well into the second period.

In the 77th minute, Taylor Hyde rose above the crowd and got a head on a cross from Kyle Johnson to tie the game at 2-2, notching his fifth goal of the year.  Just 1:19 later, in the 78th minute, Rice took a pass from Hyde and finished on the left side of the net for his second goal to give the Loggers a 3-2 lead.

Semago made it 4-2 for the Loggers in the 82nd minute with his second goal of the season following a pass from Jackson Lindeke.  George Fox scored one more time with 42 seconds remaining on an unassisted goal by Brennan Altringer, his team-leading fifth, but it was too late as the Loggers hung on for the win.

Saetrum made two saves to collect the win while his Bruin counterpart, Danny Kamna, made five saves on the afternoon.  The Loggers out-shot the Bruins 22-7 and had a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal and an 8-3 margin in corner kicks.

George Fox (2-10-3, NWC 1-6-2) will be out to snap a four-game skid next Saturday at Willamette University, game time at 2:30 p.m.  Puget Sound (7-5-2, NWC 5-2-2) hosts Whitman next Saturday, also at 2:30 p.m.  Both games will be preceded by NWC women's games at 12:00 noon.
