Anderson Icebreaker Results (M&W)
McMINNVILLE, Ore. – In
the first track and field meet of the spring in which marks counted
for NCAA national qualifying, the George Fox University women did
not hit any national standards but did win five events and post 19
Northwest Conference qualifying marks in the Erik Anderson Memorial
Icebreaker here at Linfield College Friday night and Saturday.
The Bruin men did not fare quite as well, but did manage seven
conference qualifying marks and finished second in two events.
Women
First-place finishes for the George Fox women were earned by
Alexis Arnold in the 100 hurdles (15.77), Alyssa Turner in the 400
hurdles (1:06.74), Frances Pavao in the high jump (5-01.75 /
1.57m), Emily Davison in the long jump (17-08.75 / 5.40m), and
Marlee Zakrevsky in the hammer (148-11 /
45.39m). All were NWC marks.
Bruin seconds went to Niki Stilwill in the pole vault (9-11.75 /
3.04m), Rachael Adkins in the triple jump (34-04.25 / 10.47m), Hana
Fisher in the hammer (139-01 / 42.40m), and the 4x100 meter relay
team of Davison, Irene Johnson, Rachel Meis, and Jodi Van
Gorkom. Thirds were recorded by Angie Miller in the long jump
(17-00.75 / 5.20m) and the triple jump (34-04.00 / 10.46m).
Again, each was an NWC-qualifying time or distance.
Other NWC marks were posted by Van Gorkom in the 100 (13.33,
8th), Arnold in the 200 (27.27, 4th), Meis in the 400 (1:01.46,
5th), Chelsea Sowards in the 10,000 (41:49.08, 14th), Beth Stam in
the 100 hurdles (18.03, 12th) and long jump (16-05.75 / 5.02m,
5th), Melissa Leighty in the long jump (16-04.25 / 4.98m, 6th),
Zakrevsky in the discus (109-10 / 33.47m), and Morgan Shoup in the
discus (96-02 / 29.32m).
Men
Garnering second-place finishes for the Bruin men were Torrey
Santiago in the 100 (11.36) and Nate Dillow in the 110 hurdles
(15.56). Thirds went to Kai Ojala in the high jump (6-02.00 /
1.88m) and David Dillow in the pole vault (12-06.00 / 4.11m),
though the latter's was not an NWC mark. The other
three were all conference qualifiers.
Also hitting conference standards were Allen Cassel in the
10,000 (32:59.75, 14th), David Dillow in the 110 hurdles (16.88,
10th), Santiago in the long jump (20-07.75 / 6.29m, 8th), and
Trevor Fekkes in the triple jump (40-06.75 / 12.36m, 8th).
NEXT: The Bruins will participate in the
Pacific University Preview on Saturday, March 12, in Forest Grove,
Ore. The meet is scheduled to get under way at 10:00 a.m.
