Boyman Invitational
McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Arick Morrell won the
men's shot put and hammer throw while Marlee Zakrevsky won
the hammer and took second in the discus, highlighting performances
by the George Fox University men's and women's track
teams at the Linfield College Jenn Boyman Memorial Invitational
Saturday here at Maxwell Field.
Men
Led by Morrell's two efforts, the George Fox men won four
events and posted 10 Northwest Conference qualifying marks.
Morrell captured the shot put with a heave of 43-9.0 / 13.33m, and
the hammer with a throw of 153-10 / 46.88m. Also winning were
Nate Dillow with a time of 15.81 in the 110 meter hurdles, and Kyle
Dreibelbis with a time of 10:23.90 in the 3000 meter
steeplechase.
Nate Dillow earned a second in the 400 meter hurdles (55.76),
while thirds went to David Dillow in the 110 hurdles (16.31) and
Aaron Molstad in the steeplechase (10:54.24).
Other NWC marks were posted by Micah Strong in the 200 meter
dash (22.96), Kai Ojala in the high jump (6-1.5 / 1.87m), and Zach
Pankratz in the triple jump (40-8.25 / 12.40m).
Women
The George Fox women had a field day in the field events, led by
Zakrevsky's strong throws and a total domination of the long
jump that saw Bruins take the top six spots in that event.
Zakrevsky's winning hammer throw came in at 149-4 / 45.53m,
while her runner-up discus mark was 115-5 / 35.19m.
The Bruins long jump monopoly included winner Emily Davison at
17-2.75 / 5.25m, followed by Angie Miller at 17-0 / 5.18m, Alexis
Arnold at 16-3.25 / 4.96m, Rachael Adkins at 16-1.75 / 4.92m,
Esther Harder at 15-11.75 / 4.87m, and Alyssa Turner at 15-9.75 /
4.82m.
Other first-place finishes for the Bruins included Irene Johnson
in the 400 meter dash (57.68) and Beth Stam in the triple jump
(34-11.25 / 10.65m). A second went to Frances Pavao in the
high jump (4-11.75 / 1.52m), and thirds to Davison in the triple
jump (33-11.5 / 10.35m) and Hana Fisher in the hammer (142-0 /
43.28m),
All the above marks were NWC qualifiers. Other NWC marks
(22 in all) were posted by Jodi Van Gorkom in the 100 meter dash
(13.45), Rachel Meis (27.32) and Turner (27.35) in the 200 meter
dash, Meis in the 400 (1:00.20), Niki Stilwill (17.62) and Stam
(17.93) in the 100 meter hurdles, Stilwill in the pole vault
(9-6.25 / 2.90m), and Morgan Shoup in the discus (106-8 / 32.52m)
and the hammer (114-1 / 34.77m).
NEXT: George Fox will compete at the Pacific
University Luau in Forest Grove, Ore., on Saturday, March 9, which
starts at 10:00 a.m.
