FOREST GROVE, Ore. –
Rachael Adkins posted a winning distance in the
women's triple jump, one of five top 10 finishes by a select
number of the George Fox University men's and women's
track and field teams on the first day of competition in the fourth
annual Pacific University Twilight Meet Friday here at Lincoln Park
Stadium.
Adkins jumped 35-3.25 / 10.75m, a mere quarter of an inch
further than Alissa Close of Concordia University-Portland, to win
the triple jump. Her best this season is a 36-6.25 (11.13m),
which is second in the Northwest Conference only to teammate Angie
Miller's 36-8.25 (11.18).
Two Bruins finished in the top 10 in the women's hammer,
as Marlee Zakrevsky was sixth with a 152-1 / 46.36m and Hana Fisher
was ninth with a 139-11 / 42.66m.
In the men's events, Jon Udlock posted a 173-11 / 53.00m
to place eighth in the javelin, and Arick Morrell threw the hammer
150-11 / 45.99m to finish 10th.
Over 1,000 athletes are on hand for the Pacific Twilight, which
has gone to a two-day format this year for the first time.
More George Fox athletes will be on hand for Saturday's
events, which get under way with field events at 10:00 a.m. and
track events at 10:30 a.m., though seniors will be unable to
participate due to the school's graduation services.
