SALEM, Ore. –
Alyssa Turner topped the NCAA Division III
provisional qualifying mark in the women's 400 meter hurdles,
the best effort by a George Fox University athlete, during the West
Coast Invitational track events co-hosted by the University of
Portland and Willamette University Saturday night here at the
Charles Bowles Track.
Turner finished second in the event with a time of 1:03.69, but
did not improve upon her previous best of 1:03.05 during the
University of Oregon Twilight meet on May 6. That mark stood
25th nationally heading into the weekend.
Olivia Fleming also ran for the Bruins in the 400 hurdles,
finishing fourth with a time of 1:08.22.
In the men's events, Nate Dillow captured the 110 meter
hurdles with a time of 15.48, while Casey Taylor took second in the
100 meter dash with an 11.34. David Dillow, Nate's twin
brother, was third in the 400 meter dash in 50.76, and Clayton
Pugsley was fifth in the 400 with a time of 53.23. Ex-Bruin
All-American Ben Dillow took third in the 100 with an 11.51.
NEXT: The final event of the regular season for
the Bruins will be their own George Fox Last Chance meet on Friday,
May 20, at Colcord Memorial Field in Newberg, Ore. Field
events get under way at 2:00 p.m. with the women's hammer and
men's shot and javelin, while track events commence at 3:00
p.m. with the women's 4x100 meter relay ... George Fox will
close its season by sending several athletes to the NCAA Division
III National Championships May 26-28 in Delaware, Ohio.
